Manatee Health Assessments, Kings Bay, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida USA. October 30, 2012 pm. Researchers from several federal and state agencies work together to gather data during the manatee capture and health assessments. A manatee is covered with a thermal blanket to keep its body temperature up on a cooler day. It is under an arch used for hoisting and weighing and it is only kept out of the water for a safe, pre-determined amount of time during data and sample acquisition.
