Florida manatee, Trichechus manatus latirostris, a subspecies of the West Indian manatee, endangered. Four manatees rest and warm themselves by a freshwater springhead pumping out clear blue water. A whitefin sharksucker, Echenesis neucratoides, is attached to the underside of the surfacing manatee. A boardwalk or viewing platform is visible amidst the numerous trees.
