  • Manatee calves often have wrinkly skin folds. This male calf has lots of wrinkles and he is fat! His mom feeds him well.   • Manatee mother and calf take breaths simultaniously. Many researchers believe that manatee breathing is a learned behavior and it is not uncommon for cow and calf pairs to breath together. The bond is tight between the mom and her calf for nearly two years. as there is so much to learn. They are navigating  out of a manatee-only resting area thus the USFWS markers to the left.
